Jay Corey, MHA, was a prominent member of the UNE men’s basketball team from 1986 to 1990. He helped bring his team to several NAIA District 5 Tournaments and the best single-season record in UNE history. A few years after graduation, Corey’s number, 21, was also retired.

He averaged 14.5 points/game over a 121-game career, which currently puts Corey fourth in school history for points with 1757. He still tops the all-time total and average lists for both assists (934/7.7) and steals (576/4.8) as well. Corey also holds the best single-season records at UNE in assists at 294 and 8.6/game (1989-90 season) and steals at 198 and 7.9/game (1986-87 season). In fact, all four of his seasons fall among the top 10 in those categories.

Corey graduated from UNE in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, and went on to get his master’s degree in healthcare administration. Corey lives in Massachusetts with his wife Barbara and their three children. In 2000 he founded Corey Medical Consultants, Inc., a practice management service company where he continues to serve as president.
