University of New England Athletics

Led by head coach Larry Rioux and assistant coaches Dean Johnson and Gene Peters, the UNE Knights won a school-record 24 games. Four players from that team surpassed 1,000 points for their career, and two (Everick Shackelford and Jay Corey) were selected all-district that season. The team qualified for the NAIA District 5 Tournament.

Members of that historic squad included: Tom Collins, Jay Corey, James Crawford, Gary Dempsey, Karl Dowling, Tim Johnson, Chris Lafontano, Tom Leverty, Peter Levesque, Kevin McMahon, John Notley, Eddie Selby, and Everick Shackelford, as well as managers Andy Vossler and Rich Rammel.
