Men's basketball player Johnnie Jefferson has been selected University of New England Athlete of the Month for February.

Jefferson was instrumental in the Nor'easters' run to The Commonwealth Coast Conference title, averaging a team-best 16.3 points during the TCCC Tournament, including 16 in the second half of the championship game versus Colby-Sawyer College.

In UNE's nine February games, Jefferson averaged 14.4 points while shooting 50 percent (26 of 52) from beyond the three-point arc and 88.2 percent (15 of 17) at the free throw line.
