Lizzie Wareham, a member of the women's swimming team, has been named University of New England Athlete of the Month for January.
Wareham, a junior from Osterville, Mass., piled up nine indvidual wins over four dual meets during the month and also participated on two victorious relay teams. She tallied three individual wins against TCCC rival Roger Williams, and had two wins apiece against Colby-Sawyer, Saint Joseph's, and Gordon. Additionally, Wareham finished second in the Division III 50-meter butterfly at the highly competitive Bob Mowerson Sprint Meet in Florida, clocking a time of 32.72 (equal to 28.49 for a 50-yard event).
The Nor'easters wrap their season later in February at the New England Championships, where last year Wareham set three school records and posted two ECAC qualification times.
