Men's Cross Country runner Brandon Mulligan has been selected UNE Athlete of the Month for October.
Mulligan, a first-year from Westfield, Mass., led the Nor'easters in all four races during the period. At the Pop Crowell Invitational (hosted by Gordon College), his time of 26:58 on the 8-kilometer course placed him 9th out of 252 runners. Mulligan finished 16th out of 288 individuals at the James Early Invitational (hosted by Westfield State University), posting an 8k time of 26:50. Both performances earned him the ensuing TCCC Rookie of the Week honor.
Against the stiff competition at the State meet (hosted by Bowdoin College), Mulligan's time of 27:16 was good for the 26th spot out of the field of 140. He concluded the month with a time of 27:38 at the TCCC Championship, where he earned all-TCCC honors with a 6th-place finish (of 86).
Mulligan has been chosen TCCC Rookie of the Week five times during the season so far, and has five top-10 showings to date.
