Women's basketball player Alli Gamache has been chosen University of New England Athlete of the Month for January.

Gamache, a senior guard from Dudley, Mass., averaged 15.5 points and 3.3 assists for the Nor'easters, who posted an 8-2 record in 10 games.  She shot a sizzling 50.6 percent (40 of 79) from beyond the three-point line and made 11 of 12 (91.7 percent) of her free throw attempts.  Gamache established a school single-game record Jan. 8 when she made nine 3-point field goals on her way to a career-high 29 points versus Thomas College.

She is third in the nation in three-point field goals made per game (3.2).
