BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The University of New England knocked down a season-high of more than 13 kills per set on the way to a 3-0 triumph (25-17, 25-16, 25-21) over Bridgewater State University in a women's volleyball contest Saturday afternoon (Sep. 14) at the Tinsley Center. The Nor'easters remain unbeaten on the year at 8-0.
With a pair of sweeps on Saturday, UNE extends to the program's best start in known records. The eight consecutive victories ties for the second-longest winning streak in the last 27 years.
Viktoria Pavlyuk notched a team-best 11 kills for the Nor'easters, who then received 10 out of
Hannah Nowell and six from
Ellijah Hanley.
Kassidy Bradshaw supplied a double-double of 27 assists and 12 digs.
UNE's defense was led by
Addie Miller with 18 digs, and 16 more from Hanley. Miller, Bradshaw, and
Chloe Miracle each contributed three aces for the squad, which was sixth in Division III entering the day for aces per set (4.05).
For the host Bears (1-6), Ava Crane totaled seven kills. On the back end, Lilly Misay, Bethany Votta, and Lily Welch combined for 37 digs.
The Nor'easters return to Biddeford for their home opener on Tuesday (6 p.m.) against Husson University.
