UNE moves to 3-0 with sweep of Huskies

Statistics

CASTINE, Maine -- Kassidy Bradshaw posted a third double-double in as many matches to help guide the University of New England in a 3-0 triumph (25-18, 25-17, 25-18) against the University of Southern Maine in women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon (Aug. 31) in Smith Gymnasium on the campus of Maine Maritime Academy.

Though the Nor'easters trailed early in each set, sizable runs created separation every time. In the 2nd, it was an 11-1 spurt that flipped the advantage to 18-9; in the 3rd, an 8-1 stretch gave UNE control (13-9) and a 7-1 run finished off the match.

Bradshaw led all players with 17 digs -- more than double any other -- and had 23 assists in support of the UNE attack. She also dropped six service aces, one behind the seven by Ellijah Hanley, who added seven kills and eight digs. Arden Caley put up a .692 hitting performance with a team-high nine kills, and Viktoria Pavlyuk contributed eight winners.

Kelsey Bradshaw supported the defensive effort with another eight digs for the Nor'easters (3-0).

For the Huskies (0-3), Drew Johnson had nine kills and three aces. Amelia Beatty posted eight digs.

UNE is off until a tri-match next Saturday (Sep. 7) at Salem State University. Norwich University is the first opponent at 1 p.m.
