Viktoria Pavlyuk connected for 11 kills on 18 swings to power the University of New England past Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-15), on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 2) in women's volleyball action at the Alfond Center.
The Nor'easters (2-1) now get ready to open their home schedule on Tuesday (7 p.m.) against Bridgewater State University.
Pavlyuk finished with a .611 hitting percentage that was aided by 21 assists from
Kassidy Bradshaw, who also registered 10 digs and four service aces.
Ellijah Hanley and
Arden Caley went for eight and seven kills, respectively, in support.
Addie Miller guided the defensive effort with 16 digs.
After navigating through the 1st set, UNE found itself trailing by scores of 6-1 and 10-5 in the 2nd before rebounding to take a commanding lead. Pavlyuk's first of seven winners in the frame started the Nor'easters back, with what ultimately amounted to a 20-7 stretch.
The visitors were up the whole way in the 3rd, including a peak cushion of 22-9.
For the Monks (1-2), Victoria Briones tallied seven kills, four aces, and 11 digs. Maggie Sylvester also had seven kills, and Kailyn Chamberlain totaled 15 assists. Sabrina Arcilla saved 13 digs.
