BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's volleyball team received 12 points apiece from
Viktoria Pavlyuk and
Ellijah Hanley on the way to a 3-0 triumph (25-10, 25-22, 25-16) versus Bridgewater State University on Tuesday night (Sep. 5) at Coach's Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.
Pavlyuk recorded 10 kills with a .333 hitting percentage for the Nor'easters (3-1), while adding a solo block and two block assists. Hanley led all players with 11 kills, and
Kailyn Reilly chipped in with six more.
Kassidy Bradshaw posted a double-double of 24 assists and 10 digs.
In addition to a match-best 14 digs,
Addie Miller dropped in five of the squad's 11 service aces.
Reese LeMay added 11 digs on the back end.
UNE raced out to a 10-1 advantage in the 1st set, and it was 23-8 before the Bears (0-1) managed to put consecutive points on the board. Things tightened up the 2nd, but a 7-2 closing run by the Nor'easters flipped BSU's 20-18 edge. The visitors got out to a 5-2 cushion in the 3rd, only to see UNE counter with 16 of the next 21 points to take full control (18-10). Hanley notched five of her winners in the final frame.
For Bridgewater State, Meaghan Coutu had six kills. Both Lily Welch and Lilly Misay accounted for 11 digs.
The Nor'easters hit the road for a date with Wellesley College on Saturday.
