WENHAM, Mass. -- Emily Wasina was first to cross the finish line as the University of New England registered 27 points to claim its seventh consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday (Oct. 27) at Gordon College.

The Nor'easters triumphed over the eight-team field with ease; the next closest institutions were Salve Regina University with a score of 72, and Endicott College at 80. UNE started its run atop the conference pack back in 2012, accounting for all of the program's league crowns.

Wasina made it five straight years that the CCC Runner of the Year distinction resides in Biddeford. Dani Jewell brought home the CCC Rookie of the Year as the top-finishing newcomer; the Nor'easters have secured three of the last five in that category. And, for the eighth time in as many seasons (9 total), Ron Ouellette was named as the CCC Coach of the Year by his peers. Ouellette also received his second such award on the men's side.

All-CCC status went to the top 15 runners in the field of 113. After Wasina and her 6K time of 22:50, which was less than two second ahead of second place, five Nor'easters fit the recognition -- Jasmine Syed (5th, 24:02), Katie Correnty (6th, 24:03), Jewell (7th, 24:08), Kiera Murray (8th, 24:10), and Steph Snow (15th, 24:31).
