WENHAM, Mass. -- Guided by Jacob Hickey and Ben Wright at the front of the pack, the University of New England posted a team score of 31 and claimed its first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday (Oct. 27) at Gordon College.

The Nor'easters had been runner-up at the event five times ('00, '10, '11, '12, '13) since joining the conference in 1999, but engineered a convincing win amidst the midday rain. UNE bested Roger Williams University (72) and three-time reigning champion Wentworth Institute of Technology (81) in the eight-team field.

Hickey continued his dominant season with another victorious performance on the 8K course, which earned him both the CCC Runner of the Year and CCC Rookie of the Year labels. Ron Ouellette received his second CCC Coach of the Year honor on the men's side; he also garnered the women's CCC Coach of the Year for a ninth time.

Joining Hickey (25:33) and Wright (26:37) with All-CCC status was Donovan Duffy (5th, 27:32) and Anthony Chase (7th, 27:33). For Wright and Duffy (2017 CCC Rookie of the Year), it marked a second all-conference award of their careers.
