BANGOR, Maine -- Host Husson University scored three times over a span of 11:18 in the latter stages of the opening half to break open a tight game on its way to a 5-1 non-conference triumph over the University of New England in men's soccer action Wednesday evening (Sept. 23) at Boucher Field.
After an early goal by Cesar Soucre in the fourth minute gave the hosts a 1-0 lead, the Eagles went to work after a red card in the 15th minute forced UNE to compete a player down the rest of the way. Husson made the most of the advantage, building a 2-0 cushion on a Jorge Mora tally with 30 minutes elapsed.
Haukur Karlsson cut the Nor'easters' deficit in half with an unassisted marker in the 33rd minute, but back-to-back goals by Miguel Diaz Alvarez (39th minute) and Santiago Jimenez (42nd minute) gave Husson an insurmountable 4-1 bulge heading into intermission.
Carlos Davila completed the scoring with a tally early in the second frame.
Husson (2-3-1) held a commanding lead in both shots (30-3) and corner kicks (6-0). Goalkeeper Jamie Barr needed just one save to register the win for the hosts.

Landon Dominski had two stops over the initial 59 minutes before giving way to
Jay Weingarten, who did not allow a goal and made two saves the rest of the way.
The Nor'easters (3-4-2) will look to halt a three-game winless stretch when they travel to Dudley, Mass. on Saturday to take on Nichols College in a Conference of New England contest kicking off at 3 p.m.
