WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Kaylee Benson's game-winning goal in the 62nd minute of Saturday's Conference of New England clash on Al-Marzook Field handed the University of Hartford a 2-1 victory over the University of New England women's soccer team.
Ailey Mann tied the game in the 62nd minute, just seconds before the Hawks (4-0-1, 2-0) – currently ranked 19th in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 – reclaimed the lead. Sara Reiger's goal opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, giving Hartford a 1-0 lead just before halftime.
Madelyn Nunnemacher's six saves were key in the Hawks' win.
Haley Coombs faced one fewer shot on goal and finished with four saves for the Nor'easters (4-3, 0-2). Total shots were even, 13-13.
Jill Hodgson picked up an assist on Mann's goal, upping her season point total to a team-best 14. Mann's goal was her second of the season.
UNE, still in search of its first CNE win, takes a break from conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 23, hosting UMaine Farmington at 7 p.m.
