WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of New England men's soccer team took a 3-1 lead into the 74th minute of Saturday's Conference of New England matchup with Hartford, but the Hawks scored twice in a span of four minutes to salvage a 3-3 tie at Al-Marzook Field.
With a 2-1 halftime edge,
Cole Osburn doubled UNE's lead in the 62nd minute, but Eddie Hageman had the answer for the Hawks in the 74th. Jovan Lopez-Gutierrez then netted the equalizer in the 78th.
Each of UNE's three shots on goal Saturday evening found the back of the net, starting with
Reaves Debin in 26th minute.
Brady Colgan scored in the 40th after Hartford tied the game nine minutes prior.
Total shots sided heavily with Hartford, 17-5, and shots on goal were 10-3 in favor of the hosts. Four of
Landon Dominski's six total saves came in a seven-minute stretch between the Hawks' first and second goals.
Osburn's goal was his third of the season, tying the first-year with
Corbin Schreindorfer for the team lead.
UNE's stretch of four straight on the road continues Wednesday, Sept. 23 as the Nor'easters visit Husson at 6 p.m.
