BIDDEFORD, Maine – Thomas College used two second-half goals to pull away to a 4-1 non-conference victory over the University of New England men's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon at Blue Storm Stadium.
The Terriers scored twice in the game's opening 17 minutes before
Haukur Karlsson put the Nor'easters on the board with his second goal of the season.
An own-goal, plus a penalty kick from David Ivarsson – his second goal of the afternoon – were back breakers for UNE, who was outdone 6-1 in shots on target and 17-6 in total shots.
Landon Dominski made three saves to help keep the Terriers within reach for much of the game. First-year
Jay Weingarten played the final nine minutes and did not face a shot on goal.
Cody Robinson was responsible for Thomas' opening tally in the 15th minute, and Ivarsson had his first of the match via a free kick in the 17th. The Terriers' second-half goals were also nearly in succession, with the first coming in the 53rd minute and the second in the 60th.
UNE returns to Conference of New England play on Saturday, Sept. 19 with a visit to Hartford. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
