BIDDEFORD, Maine -- After surrendering the doubles point at the outset of the match, Western New England University recovered to claim five of six singles matches and earn a 5-2 Conference of New England victory over the University of New England Saturday afternoon (Apr. 11) at Blue Cyclone Complex.

First-year Drake Turcotte factored into both points for the Nor'easters, teaming with Tyler Mason to claim a 6-3 win at #2 doubles. Turcotte would later conclude the afternoon with a gritty 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 triumph over Colby Esposito at the top singles slot. 

Kyle Poccia, Eston Fowler, Connor Lord and Michel Abizaid Nunez earned straight-set victories to clinch the result for the Golden Bears, who improved to 7-10 overall and 4-5 in conference action.

Liam Miller extended WNE's Quinn Northrop to three sets at #2 singles before falling by a score of 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.

The Nor'easters (3-6, 2-5) have a few days off before resuming action Tuesday when they host CNE foe Curry College at 3 p.m.
