CLERMONT, Fla. -- SUNY Geneseo overcame a two-run deficit to clip the University of New England softball squad by a 5-2 margin on Sunday (Mar. 15) at The Spring Games.
The Knights (1-1) received a two-run single from Nevaeh Ross to tie things in the 4th inning, and then a couple of extra-base hits from Brooke Fraas and Ray Schumacher led to taking a 4-2 edge in the 5th. Emily Sylanus had two hits and two RBI for Geneseo, while Frass and Lauren Babich joined with a pair of hits, as well. Ross went the distance in the circle, striking out five.
Emma Michaud tallied a game-high three hits for the Nor'easters (0-2), and knocked in the first run of the contest in the 3rd after one-out singles by
Hannah Lappin and
Hannah Irons.
Zofia Twarog followed Michaud with an infield single to plate a second run.
UNE's lone extra-base hit -- a double by
Tess Bolduc -- came with two away in the 6th, but didn't amount to a score.
Liv Arvidson went 4.1 innings and fanned three batters in the setback.
