FALMOUTH, Maine -- Roger Williams University began the Spring season with a 7-0 Conference of New England (CNE) decision versus the University of New England on Saturday (Feb. 21), as the Nor'easters played their inaugural men's tennis match inside at Foreside Fit Tennis Club.

UNE's 21st varsity sport has 15 contests lined up in March and April, which includes 10 more CNE matches leading up to the conference championship in May.

The Hawks (3-2, 1-0 CNE) were in the process of claiming the one point for doubles when the #1 Nor'easter duo of Drake Turcotte and Liam Miller rattled off four straight games to win, 6-3.

Turcotte then led 3-2 in the opening set, and 2-0 in the second set, at #1 singles, but RWU's Bronson DeSisto was able to rally for the win (6-3, 6-2) that completed the sweep. Franco Leehive also picked off two games in the first set at #3 singles for UNE.

Roger Williams has finished in second place in the league standings each of the last four seasons.

The Nor'easters (0-1, 0-1) now have until March 10 to prepare for a non-conference road trip to the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
