BIDDEFORD, Maine – No. 14 Endicott College remained perfect in the Conference of New England on Wednesday night on Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum, running away with a 103-72 victory over the University of New England men's basketball team.
Marcus Montagnino and Elijah Kinney scored 22 apiece to pace the Gulls (21-1, 13-0), who hiked their win streak to 15. Jeff Hill and Andrew Mitchell joined them in double figures, finishing with 14 and 12, respectively.
Adam Lux led the Nor'easters (11-11, 7-6 CNE) with 15, followed by
Adrian Torres' 14.
Jayden Thornton, with 10 points, rounded out the three scorers to enter double figures for UNE.
Endicott owned the glass with a 48-34 rebounding advantage, and Montagnino led that effort with eight boards. UNE put together a clean game offensively, committing a season-best seven turnovers, but were still narrowly outdone by the Gulls, who limited their turnovers to just five.
The visitors turned in a hot start, scoring the game's first 10 points in just two and a half minutes. Endicott's lead was as small as six midway through the first half, but stretched to 21 (52-31) by halftime. The Gulls were 5-for-10 from deep in the opening 20 minutes and nearly kept up that 50-percent pace, eventually finishing 11-for-23 on the evening. The Nor'easters ended the game 7-for-24 from long range.
Endicott remained efficient in the second half, hitting 21 of its 36 attempts from the field to maintain a cushion of at least 20 points for the rest of the game.
UNE will visit Suffolk on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
