Rams roll past Nor'easters in CNE action

Statistics

BOSTON – Suffolk had five score in double figures on its way to an 84-55 Conference of New England victory over the University of New England men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon on Smith Court.

The Rams (14-9, 10-3) opened the game on a 12-0 run, eventually carrying a demanding 41-21 lead into halftime. Suffolk – led by Nick Verdile's 17 points – coasted through the second half, only once seeing its lead quickly dip below 20.

Adam Lux scored a team-high 13 points for UNE (11-12, 7-7), which suffered a cold start offensively. The Nor'easters connected on just eight of their 32 attempts from the floor during the first half, while the Rams took advantage, shooting nearly 50 percent (17-for-37) to begin building their early lead. Lux was 3-for-5 from deep, but UNE only mustered two more made triples beyond Lux's – both coming from Jayden Thornton. Declan Davis, Suffolk's second leading scorer, hit three of his six tries from downtown on his way to 15 points.

The Rams dominated the glass, owning a 48-32 advantage in the rebounding column. Six different Suffolk players pulled down at least five boards.

The Nor'easters are on the road once again on Tuesday, Feb. 17 to visit Wentworth.
