WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State University escaped the opening set with the last three points and overcame deficits in the latter portion of the next two frames to claim a 3-0 women's volleyball decision (26-24, 25-18, 25-23) over the University of New England at the Woodward Center on Saturday (Sep. 13).
Hanna Nihill and Lauren Carnes combined for 25 kills against four errors to lead the Owls (2-7), while Morgan Dority provided 29 assists. On the back end, Erica Majka and Zurielys Rivera went for 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Nor'easters (4-5) were fueled by a match-high 16 kills out of
Ellijah Hanley.
Hannah Nowell had a double-double of 10 kills and 13 digs, as well as a contest-best four aces.
Abby Zamora totaled 17 assists and 11 digs, and
Kelsey Bradshaw was good for 20 digs to top all players.
