WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Eastern Connecticut State University jumped out to multiple leads of six points in the final frame but had to hold on late for the 3-2 women's volleyball result (21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 13-25, 15-13) against the University of New England in a neutral match played Saturday afternoon (Sep. 13) at Westfield State University's Woodward Center.
Allegra Copeland paced the Warriors (7-1) with 15 kills. Haley Jo Bridges and Emma Robinson both added 10 kills, while Robinson contributed a team-high 18 digs. Emerson Conigliaro picked up 14 digs and Liz Squier had 10 more, to go with 41 assists.
On the opposite side of the court, the Nor'easters (4-4) got a double-double from
Hannah Nowell with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Ellijah Hanley and
Kendall Gallaugher supplied 10 kills apiece, while Gallaugher also factored in six blocks (1 solo) to end with 14.5 points.
Lylah Shumway tacked on seven points from the service line.
Kelsey Bradshaw saved a match-best 25 digs, and was second among all players with four aces. After 19 assists by
Hayley Shult,
Abby Zamora had 15 and also reached double digits in digs (10).
