BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams erupted for a 10-goal first quarter on its way to a 19-7 Conference of New England men's lacrosse victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field.

Matt Hemmert paced the Hawks (9-7, 5-2 CNE) with six goals and two assists. Brady Lee and Ryan Vendetti scored three goals apiece, with each of Lee's trio coming during the dominant 10-0 first quarter.
Stephen Fogarty scored two goals and added an assist for UNE (7-9, 5-2 CNE).

Kyle Zirn led Roger Williams' defensive effort with five caused turnovers, along with seven groundballs, helping the Hawks earn a 46-24 advantage in that category. Offensively, Roger Williams peppered the Nor'easters with 31 shots on goal.

The Hawks 10-0 game-opening run, which included three goals in the first two minutes of the contest, was snapped early in the second quarter when Fogarty netted his first of the afternoon. Fogarty also accounted for UNE's second goal, which was followed by an
Ean LaRochelle tally. Roger Williams answered with three straight, returning its lead to double digits, where it remained for the rest of the game.
