WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford carried an 8-2 lead into a halftime, in the midst of a 9-0 run, and did not look back on its way to a 14-5 win over the University of New England in Saturday afternoon's Conference of New England men's lacrosse action at Al-Mazook Field.
Aidan Ezra's four goals led the Hawks' scoring contingent, which also included four different two-goal scorers.
Stephen Fogarty and
Shea Fogarty scored two goals apiece for the Nor'easters (6-8, 1-4 CNE).
Hartford (8-5, 5-1 CNE) put up the game's first five goals – two of which came from Ezra – to lead 5-0 midway through the second quarter. Back-to-back UNE goals helped the Nor'easters gain ground, but a 9-0 run by the Hawks that spanned the final five minutes of the second through the last six minutes of the fourth stretched the lead to 12-4.
UNE's
Chris Gottlieb and Hartford's Tarin Prior matched one another for the game high with six groundballs, where the Hawks had a 34-30 advantage. Gottlieb also registered three caused turnovers.
Evan Hazard made 15 saves for the Nor'easters, while the Hawks had three different goalies see the field. CJ Ledwick made eight saves and allowed two goals in just over 50 minutes of action.
UNE is back on its home field Tuesday, April 15, hosting Gordon at 7 p.m.
