BIDDEFORD, Maine – Austin Murawski's two goals in the game's final 10 minutes were enough to help Hartford walk away with a 3-2 victory in comeback fashion over the University of New England men's soccer team in Wednesday evening's Conference of New England battle on Hazard Field.
UNE held a 2-1 lead – both goals coming from
Ethan Berry – as late as the 81st minute, but the Hawks' late-game barrage, powered by Murawski, quickly handed Hartford the decisive 3-2 advantage by the 87th minute.
Hartford's Kyle Theobald put up the evening's first goal in the 40th minute, and Berry had the answer moments later on a well-placed throw-in that found the back of the net after hitting the hands of Hawks' keeper Ryan Lunn.
UNE claimed a 2-1 advantage in the 71st minute when Berry struck again, having been setup by a header from
Beckett Shanahan to hammer home a ball from near the top of the box.
Shots on goal sided with the Hawks, 8-6, and total shots were 19-12 in their favor.
Next up for UNE is a visit to Endicott on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.
