BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Roger Williams University knocked down 17 three-point field goals while shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc on its way to a 110-77 road win over the University of New England in a Conference of New England (CNE) men's basketball game Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11) at Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.

The defending conference champion Hawks (9-4, 4-2 CNE) saw all five of their starters hit for double figures, paced by a game-high 23 points from Mac Annus, who canned four shots from distance. Philip Sughrue and Ty Higgins scored 16 points apiece while combining to shoot 13-for-20 from the floor. Nate Lopes contributed 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Finn Miller nearly recorded a triple-double (10 points, 9 boards, 8 assists).

Jaelen Jackson scored a team-best 14 points for UNE (4-9, 2-4). Adam Lux finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Jack Pyzynski and Kha Cao Ra James scored 10 each. James made 5 of 6 field goal attempts to go with six caroms and a pair of blocked shots.

Trailing 12-7 just four minutes into the game, Roger Williams used a 22-7 spurt over the ensuing 4:50 to jump out to a 29-19 lead and take control of the contest. The Hawks would take a 54-39 cushion into the locker room.

The visitors put the game out of reach in the early stages of the second half, racking up 25 points over the opening 5:58 of the frame to forge a 79-51 lead. The Hawks exhibited red-hot shooting after intermission, converting 57.9 percent (22-38) of their field goal attempts, including a 52.9 percent (9-17) showing from beyond the arc.

Roger Williams boasted an impressive all-around stat sheet, leading in rebounds (45-36) while piling up 27 assists and turning the ball over just nine times.

The Nor'easters will look to snap a three-game losing streak Wednesday when they head to Milton, Mass. for a 7:30 CNE tilt at Curry College.
