BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Sean Daly factored in seven goals as the University of Massachusetts-Boston picked up a 15-8 men's lacrosse decision versus the University of New England at Blue Bolt Field on Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 20).

The Beacons (5-2) got five goals and two assists from Daly, while Greg Wolff chipped in with three tallies and Timothy Sullivan added a pair. Matt Lucozzi captured 17 faceoffs and snagged eight ground balls, Sean Cullagh controlled seven grounders, and Patrick Carey registered four caused turnovers to go with five ground balls. James Boldy made eight saves to backstop the victory.

On the UNE side, Andrew Lawrence notched team-highs of three goals, three assists, and three caused turnovers. Ben Gowell won 10 faceoffs and picked up seven ground balls. Evan Hazard and Connor Gaughan split time in goal, totaling 10 and six saves, respectively.

After Daly opened the scoring, Lawrence and Collin Jackson gave the Nor'easters the lead (2-1) with 11:21 remaining in the 1st period. However, two from Wolff before the end of the frame, and two by Daly during the initial portion of the 2nd, helped turn it into an 8-3 cushion for the Beacons.

UNE (3-6) netted the first two of the 3rd quarter to close within 10-6, but the hosts were held off the scoreboard for the next 10 minutes as the spread inched the other direction.

On the day, the visitors wound up putting nearly twice as many shots on target, at 31-16.

The Nor'easters now have one week before opening Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at home against Wentworth Institute of Technology.
