KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The University of New England scored at least one run in all five innings to rack up a 14-6 softball victory over Skidmore College at The Spring Games on Thursday (Mar. 14).
The Nor'easters (2-6) led 2-0 in the 1st but saw the Thoroughbreds plate four in the top of the 2nd to slip in front. The advantage was back in the hands of UNE by the end of the frame, though (6-4), and while Skidmore netted a pair in the 4th to make it 8-6, the Nor'easters registered five in the 5th to walk it off.
Mo Kinsella picked up the win in the circle, striking out five and allowing three earned runs, while also leading the offense. In her first plate appearances of the season, Kinsella went 3-for-4 at the dish with a game-best four RBI and one run scored.
Becca Dumont also went 3-of-4 with three RBI and touched home twice.
Emma Michaud,
Olivia Howe,
Abby Walsh, and
Jaiden McKenna each did a little of everything (hits, runs, RBI), with multiple tallies in at least two categories.
Grace Tutt supplied two more of UNE's 15 hits.
For the Thoroughbreds (2-6), Rachel Monser had the two-RBI double in the 4th, which scored Elle Harrison for the second time. Monser took the pitching loss, yielding four earned runs in the first two innings.
