BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Dominic Murphy netted a pair of goals for the University of New England men's ice hockey team as the Nor'easters defeated Suffolk University, 4-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday night (Nov. 22).
UNE (4-2-0, 3-2-0 CNE) will look to make it a weekend sweep of the Rams (3-3-1, 1-3-1) on Saturday afternoon in East Boston.
Murphy, who began the day with a share of fourth in Division III for goals per game (1.00), opened the scoring with the only tally of the 1st period at the 16:28 mark.
Drew Olivieri won an offensive zone faceoff by tapping it to Murphy, who spun and fired one inside the far post.

The cushion doubled just a few minutes into the 2nd period, as a rising wrist shot from the point by
Kevin O'Keefe was redirected down into the cage by
Brayden Cook for his first collegiate goal

Joe Sweeney also assisted on the play.
Things briefly got interesting in the 3rd, when Suffolk's Jake Grace raced up the right side and snapped one inside the far post to make it 2-1 with 13 minutes remaining. However, 3:08 later, skating with a 4-on-3 power play, Murphy struck again to pad the UNE lead. After one of the many faceoff wins by
Dylan Schuett,
Chip Hamlett and
Juraj Elias set up Murphy in the left circle for a rocket of a one-timer, picking the top, near-side corner for his 7th goal of the year

O'Keefe then added some insurance with his first of the season, wristing one from the high slot through a screen and under the crossbar

Anthony Sciucco delivered the primary assist out of the corner, between a trio of Suffolk sticks, after Hamlett kept the play in the zone along the boards to register his second helper.
Stefan Carney backstopped his second win in as many starts for the Nor'easters with 16 saves, including his biggest on a point-blank try in the 2nd
[Watch]. Defensively, Murphy was also the only UNE player credited with multiple blocked shots.
Schuett racked up 17 faceoff wins in 21 tries (81%), powering the hosts to a 71 percent success rate on the evening.
Ike Keller,
Ryan Hadland, and Olivieri combined for another 24 draws with 66.7 percent efficiency.
In goal for the Rams, CJ Hapward stopped 17 shots.
