MILTON, Mass. -- The University of New England notched a season-best .380 attacking percentage and poured on another 14Â aces to breeze past Curry College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-7, 25-13), in a Conference of New England (CNE) women's volleyball match Wednesday evening (Oct. 9) at Katz Gymnasium.
With their fifth straight triumph, the Nor'easters (14-3) now hold a winning record in league play (2-1 CNE) for the first time since 2019.
UNE's season pace of 3.47 aces per set increased some more with the performance from the service line; the Nor'easters entered the day ranked third in Division III in the category.
Kelsey Bradshaw dropped in five aces in the contest, while
Viktoria Pavlyuk and
Kassidy Bradshaw each contributed four.
Pavlyuk spiked 10 kills to pace the visiting offense, and
Hannah Nowell registered seven winners.
Kendall Gallaugher (6) and Ka.Bradshaw (4) combined for 10 swings and earned a point every time (1.000). Ka.Bradshaw supplied 21 assists.
On the back line for UNE, Nowell and Ke.Bradshaw went for 10 and six digs, respectively.
The Nor'easters trailed 7-3 out of the gate, but a 9-2 stretch with three kills from Nowell and three points by Pavlyuk looked to have things turned around (15-11). Curry (1-14, 0-3) managed to tie the score at 16-all, only to see UNE close with another 9-2 run, including four of the last five points by Ka.Bradshaw.
It was sheer front-line dominance in the 2nd frame by the Nor'easters, who hit .611 without an error to take the commanding lead two-set lead.
Kyah Earls had eight kills and six digs for the Colonels. Nadia Dutton also picked up six digs.
UNE gets the rest of the week off and will head for Husson University next Tuesday.
