BIDDEFORD, Maine –
Karley Belisle's game-winning goal in the 59th minute of Wednesday night's action at Hazard Field helped the University of New England women's soccer team pull out a 2-1 Conference of New England victory over Curry.
With the win, the Nor'easters (12-5-0, 5-2-0) have clinched a spot in the six-team Conference of New England Tournament.
Tori Keyes opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and the Colonels (5-8-3, 1-4-2) netted the equalizer during the 40th minute. The Nor'easters would need less than 15 minutes of second-half play to break the 1-1 stalemate.
Keyes' goal marked her 16th of the season, which is good for second on the Conference of New England leaderboard. Belisle, who assisted Keyes' goal in addition to tallying the game-winner, ranks second in the conference in assists (11).
Anna Flaherty made three saves for the Nor'easters, with two coming in the first half in the final save occurring in the opening minute of the second half. The Colonels were unable to come up with a shot attempt in the game's final 30 minutes following Belisle's goal.
Brooke Pierotti's crossing pass helped UNE tally its first goal, with Belisle looking to finish it at the left post before Curry goalkeeper Hannah Correa made one of her eight saves. Keyes was in position for a high-percentage look from just a few yards out off of Correa's deflection (

Putting UNE on top, Belisle made a move on a Colonel defender before besting a diving Correa from 18 yards out.
Now with only two regular season games remaining, UNE travels to Gordon on Saturday, Oct. 26 for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
