WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Christina Stone figured in four of the University of Hartford's five goals, as the Hawks downed the University of New England by a score of 5-1 in a Conference of New England (CNE) women's soccer match Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19) at Al-Marzook Field.
The Hawks, winners of five consecutive games, improved their overall record to 9-3-2 while upping their conference ledger to 4-1-1. UNE slipped back to 11-5-0 and is 4-2-2 in CNE play. The victory moved Hartford ahead of the Nor'easters in the conference standings.
Stone tallied twice over the initial 45 minutes to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage heading into intermission. The Hawks held UNE without a shot in the opening frame, while totaling 11 of their own.
Hartford put the game out of reach early in the second stanza, when Imani Jenkins and Reese Sadler scored in the opening 6:24. For Jenkins it was her 17th goal of the season.
Tori Keyes got the Nor'easters on the board with a little more than 30 minutes remaining, notching her 15th marker off an assist from
Kylie Curtin. Keyes' 15 goals tie her for the fourth-most by a UNE player in a single season.
Stone finished off her hat-trick in the 73rd minute with an unassisted goal. Sejal Johnson registered the win in goal, needing just one save to do so. For the contest, Hartford held commanding margins in both shots (23-4) and corner kicks (10-3).

Anna Flaherty (3) and
Haley Coombs (6) combined for nine stops for the Nor'easters, who are scheduled to host Curry College this Wednesday at 7 p.m.
