Statistics

BOSTON – Karley Belisle scored both goals for the University of New England women's soccer team in Tuesday night's 2-0 victory at Wentworth, while goalkeeper Anna Flaherty made five saves to notch her second consecutive shutout of a Conference of New England opponent.

Belisle, who has seven points to her credit over UNE's last three games, opened the scoring in the 36th minute and found the back of the net once again in the 62nd minute. It was the first multi-goal game of the season for the junior, who entered Tuesday night's contest ranking among the top 10 nationally in assists (9).

Flaherty led the Nor'easters (11-4-0, 4-1-0 CNE) to their fifth shutout in the last seven games on her way to earning her 10th win of the season. She recently blanked Roger Williams on Saturday for her first complete-game shutout of the season.

Belisle's first goal, late in the opening half, was a header off of Amy Forrest's cross. That tally came after Flaherty stopped three Wentworth (4-6-4, 1-3-1 CNE) shots midway through the frame.

The Nor'easters extended their lead when Belisle one-timed Lizzie Frattaroli's free kick past Leopards keeper Shyla Kulesza, who made four of her six saves during the second half.

Tuesday's victory, which marked the Nor'easters' seventh in their last eight outings, was also UNE's fourth straight over Wentworth in the recent series history.

UNE faces another conference test, this time at Hartford, on Saturday, Oct. 19 at noon.
