Statistics

BOSTON – Two goals scored by Bruno Correia, including the game-winner that broke a 1-1 tie during the 54th minute, lifted the University of New England men's soccer team to a 2-1 road win at Wentworth in Tuesday's Conference of New England matchup.

Tuesday's victory marked the Nor'easters' first road win over the Leopards since 2005, and snapped a four-game losing streak in the two programs' recent series history.

UNE (5-6-3, 2-3-0 CNE) grabbed a 1-0 lead shortly before halftime during the 36th minute when Correia forced a Leopard turnover, dodged a defender and took advantage of a one-on-one opportunity against Wentworth goalkeeper Noah Lawless.

The Leopards (6-7-2, 2-3-0 CNE) netted the equalizer in the early minutes of the second half with Younes Henniche's 49th-minute tally. Just over five minutes later, it was Correia finding the back of the net once again to notch the first multi-goal game of his collegiate career. Shortly after a corner kick, the sophomore received a pass from Nick Reffel at the top of the box and a shot past a diving Lawless to reclaim the lead.

UNE totaled three shots on goal, all from Correia, who now has five goals on the season, three of which were game winners. Goalkeeper Ollie Hammond matched his season high with four saves that all occurred in the game's final 33 minutes.

Following Tuesday's win, the Nor'easters are on the road once again, set to battle Hartford in another conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.
