Hartford blanks Nor'easters in CNE action

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Nicholas Castrovinci tallied a pair of first-half goals to lead the University of Hartford men's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout of the University of New England in Conference of New England (CNE) play Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19) at Al-Marzook Field.

Castrovinci converted in the 15th and 27th minutes to give the host Hawks a 2-0 halftime advantage. Hartford controlled play in the opening frame, out-shooting the Nor'easters 12-1 over the 45-minute period.

Kellijah Morgan and Devan Jessop tallied after halftime to complete the scoring for Hartford. Jessop assisted on a pair of goals to complete the afternoon with four points. Goalkeeper Ryan Lunn finished with a pair of saves to earn the victory for the Hawks (9-2-2, 3-2-1 CNE), who led in shots by a 20-6 margin.

Sean McCarthy totaled seven stops for UNE (5-7-3, 2-4-0), which hosts Curry College in a CNE showdown Wednesday (Oct. 23) that gets underway at 4 p.m.
