Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Four different Nor'easters scored during the University of New England men's soccer team's dominant 4-1 victory over Massachusetts Maritime on Tuesday night, which featured three UNE goals in a span of just two minutes during the early moments of the second half.

UNE (4-4-2) led 1-0 at halftime before scoring three rapid-fire goals beginning in the 51st minute and culminating in the 53rd minute with Patrick Powell's first career goal. Massachusetts Maritime (2-7-0) avoided the shutout with Harry Cooley's tally in the 60th minute.

Sam Higgins' penalty kick, his second successful PK of the season, late in the first half put the Nor'easters on the board during the 35th minute. (Watch)

The floodgates opened just over five minutes into the second half when Haukur Karlsson took advantage of a high-percentage look setup by Harlan Lundgren (Watch). A minute later, Lundgren would have a goal of his own after finishing a perfectly placed centering pass from Jack Thurmond (Watch). 50 seconds later, Powell found the back of the net from 10 yards, hammering home a pass from Matthew Dewhurst.

Dewhurst recorded the first two assists of his career during Tuesday's victory, having been credited with helpers on UNE's final two goals of the evening.

Ollie Hammond flirted with a second consecutive shutout before allowing the second-half Buccaneers goal. In his most recent start prior to Tuesday, Hammond blanked UMaine Farmington in a scoreless tie.

The Nor'easters are in action at Hazard Field once again on Saturday, Oct. 5 to host Conference of New England foe Western New England at noon.
