BOSTON, Mass. – Emerson College defeated the #24 University of New England, 2-1, in women's soccer action at Rotch Field on Wednesday night.
The Lions (3-4-1) got on the board first in the 15
th minute with a goal by Presley King.
Kylie Curtin tied the game for UNE (4-1-3) in the closing seconds of the first half as she put back a rebound off a shot by
Ceirra Merritt for her first goal of the season.
Emerson was able to put in the game-winner in the 71
st minute as Katie Wojcik found Madeline Knaw for a goal.
Shots were even at 11 on both sides, but the Lions did hold an 8-5 advantage on goal.
Sydney Gillingham made six saves in the loss for the Nor'easters. Amara Schaub stopped four in goal for Emerson.
The Nor'easters return to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday in a rematch of last year's conference title game against Western New England. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
