SPRINGFIELD, Mass.  – Isabella Montalvo netted a goal in the 5th minute for the only scoring of the match as Western New England University defeated #24 University of New England, 1-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer matchup on Sunday.
 
Montalvo received the ball on the left side of the field early on. She dribbled in, through a defender, and sent a right-footed shot into the back-left side of the net.
 
The Nor'easters turned up the offensive pressure in the second half as they outshot the hosts 14-3 overall and 5-2 on goal, but were unable to pull the game even. Tori Keyes connected on eight shots (four on target) to lead UNE on the day.
 
Sydney Gillingham made four saves for the Nor'easters. Molly McLaughlin had seven stops for WNE.
 
UNE visits Husson on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
