BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Lizzie Frattaroli had a hand in four goals and
Tori Keyes scored twice as the University of New England ran up a 5-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer triumph against Nichols College on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 23) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
The Nor'easters (4-0-3, 2-0-0 CCC) continue the program's second-longest unbeaten streak to begin a season, short only of the 19 straight wins to open the 1994 campaign. The last time UNE went at least seven outings without a setback, at any point of a year, was 2014.
Frattaroli wasted little time getting things rolling for the hosts, scoring her fourth goal of the season after just 84 seconds of action by settling a cross from
Emily Martin and cutting inside a defender at the left post
[Watch]. She then delivered two perfectly-weighted through-balls for Keyes to finish in the 13th
[Watch] and 15th minutes
[Watch] to make it 3-0 at the half.
Morgan Diefenbach also registered an assist on the first Keyes score.
Keyes tops the Nor'easters with five goals on the year.
It became 4-0 in the 48th minute, when Frattaroli threaded a pass from the right end line into the middle of the 6-yard box where rookie
Lindsey Butler was waiting to tap in her first career tally
[Watch].
Hannah Niles assisted on the play, as well.
The three assists for Frattaroli ties for third in the program single-game records, joining six others, including Niles from a few weeks ago. The last time UNE had a player with a five-point performance was also Frattaroli (2 goals, 1 assist), in 2022, against Nichols.
Bella Reil capped the offense in the 55th minute with her second marker of 2023, taking a horizontal pass from
Brooke Pierotti and cutting back on a defender before ripping a right-footed shot from outside the box that picked the top-left corner
[Watch].
All four UNE goalies combined for the shutout, with starter
Sydney Gillingham (45 minutes) and closer
Claudia Kenneway (15 minutes) making the team's three saves.
Shots wound up 31-6 in favor of the home team (19-3 on goal). For the Bison, Saige Frazier posted 10 stops during a busy 1st half, and Adie Hughes logged four the rest of the way.
The Nor'easters visit Emerson College on Wednesday.
