Emily Martin scored in the 84
th minute to help the University of New England women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against Bates College on Tuesday night at Blue Storm Stadium.
Ceirra Merritt set up the equalizer by launching a cross from the right side into the box, where Martin pulled the ball out of the crowd and spun to fire a shot into the left side of the net. [

Following the tying goal, the Nor'easters (3-0-3) were able withstand a late push by Bates, which had two corner kicks in the closing minutes. A tough save by
Sydney Gillingham late also helped preserve the result.
UNE's unbeaten ledger through the first six games of the year is the second-longest streak to begin a season in program history.
The Bobcats (1-2-2) struck first early in the contest as Mollie Franklin chipped a high shot over the head of Gillingham in the 5
th minute. A long pass by Anna Masumoto was tapped to Franklin by Izzy Lussier to setup the goal.
Shots favored Bates by a slim 13-11 margin and each team had six shots on goal. Gillingham and Ruby Reimann (Bates) each finished with five saves.
The Nor'easters return to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday afternoon for a Homecoming Weekend match at Hazard Field against Nichols at 12 p.m.
