Endicott gets past UNE

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College men's lacrosse team defeated the University of New England, 26-4, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at Hempstead Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Domenic Russo led the Gulls (8-4, 4-0 CCC) offense with five goals. Nick Graap and Domenic Valera each scored three times. Andrew Lawrence and Ryan Hazard had two goals apiece for the Nor'easters (7-7, 1-4).
 
Endicott used a four-goal spurt over a period of 1:24 in the first quarter to pull out to a 5-0 lead. Lawrence scored the first goal for UNE with 4:17 to play in the opening period. The Gulls led 7-1 after one.
 
Russo scored back-to-back in the second quarter as the Gulls extended their lead out to 12-1. Sam McGregor connected with Hazard for a goal late in the half as UNE trailed 12-2 at the break.
 
The Nor'easters added a goal each in the third and fourth quarters. Lawrence scored his second on the day late in the third. Hazard added another off an assist from Jordan White in the fourth.
 
Endicott outshot the Nor'easters, 65-29, on the day, and 45-15 on goal. The Gulls also had a 51-28 advantage in ground balls. Tim Luciano made six stops in 30 minutes of work to earn the goalkeeping decision.
 
Ben Gowell led all players with nine ground balls and was 15-of-33 on faceoff attempts. Alex Thoms turned in 13 saves over the initial 45 minutes, before Liam Simoneau recorded six the rest of the way.
 
UNE visits Roger Williams on Saturday at 3 p.m.
