BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The No.11 University of New England men's ice hockey team scored the last five goals, including four in the 3rd period, to complete the weekend sweep of Western New England University with a 7-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory on Saturday night (Nov. 4) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

For the second straight day, the Nor'easters (2-1, 2-0 CCC) fell behind at the start, as Rais Francis finished in front off a feed from Jordie Morgan for the Golden Bears (1-3, 0-2) just 2:11 into the contest. But UNE wasted little time to get back even, converting the first of four power play goals at 4:40. Juraj Elias wristed one in from the back edge of the right circle, with assists from Anthony Sciucco and Chip Hamlett [Watch].

Logan DiScanio gave the hosts a lead (2-1) just past the midway mark of the 1st frame, one-timing a rebound off the end boards. Brock Paul and Anthony Cinato factored in the scoring play.

Western New England hung around, though, and found its own power-play tally to tie things (2-2) before the intermission. Sam Mitchell, who had also assisted on the opening marker, put one in from a low angle on the swooping in on the right; Francis picked up an assist prior to leaving the ice.

Shots were only two apart through 20 minutes (UNE 14-12), but that changed in the 2nd period as the Nor'easters amassed a 24-8 advantage. Just one attempt hit the netting, off the stick of Dawson Ellis, who stuffed in a rebound on the left side at 14:48.

The 3rd stanza was more of the same for UNE (20-4 in shots), except the scoring came much more often. Shea Courtmanche (0:39) and Elias (1:46) -- from an identical position to his first, also with assists from Hamlett and Sciucco [Watch] -- deposited quick power-play goals, while Nathan Chickering and Kevin O'Keefe notched scores down the stretch. Both Chickering and O'Keefe had found the back of the cage on Friday, as well.

Hamlett ended with a match-best three points, and O'Keefe, Paul, and Cinato made it a handful of UNE players with two points. Billy Girard IV was called upon for 22 saves to backstop the result.

Anthony Aureliano turned in 51 saves for the Golden Bears.

The Nor'easters will now prepare for a home-and-home series with current No.7 Endicott College. Friday's faceoff is 7 p.m. in Biddeford.
