Statistics

PAXTON, Mass. -- The University of New England scored the game's first nine points on three-pointers by Jordyn Franzen and Sydney Jenisch and never looked back on the way to a 78-52 women's basketball victory over Anna Maria College at the Fuller Center on Monday evening (Nov. 20).

It was 17-3 after a Jenisch jumper just past the midway mark of the 1st period, and was 26-11 through 10 minutes. The margin was 41-25 at halftime, and grew to 26 (64-38) by the end of the 3rd.

Jenisch continued the solid start to her rookie campaign with a season-best 18 points. Over the last 35 years of UNE basketball, only Franzen and now Jenisch have scored in double figures in each of their first five collegiate games.

Franzen finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Nor'easters (4-1), while Faye Veilleux added 11 points with five steals. Kaylee Beyor contributed eight points and a game-high 10 reobunds, helping the visitors to a 44-35 advantage on the boards. UNE scored 27 points off 21 Anna Maria turnovers.

For the Amcats (0-4), Gina Parmenter had team highs of 13 points and seven caroms.

The Nor'easters are back on their home court Sunday (3 p.m.) to face No.4 Tufts University.
