Emily Martin scored in the 16th and 81st minutes to lead the University of New England women's soccer team past Suffolk University, 3-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match at Barbara J. Hazard Field on Wednesday night (Oct. 18).
Martin now shares the top goal total on the squad (7) with
Tori Keyes, who assisted on the opening tally. UNE was awarded an indirect free kick deep in the left side of the box, and Keyes rolled it back for Martin's right-footed blast under the crossbar

That 1-0 spread remained at the half, despite the hosts out-shooting their opponent by a 13-4 margin.
Lizzie Frattaroli provided insurance in the 65th minute by drawing a foul in the box and then placing the ensuing penalty kick into the upper-right corner for her sixth marker of the year
[Watch]. Martin finished things off with an unassisted goal, weaving through defenders along the left end line before slotting one from a tough angle between the near post and the goalie

With the win, the Nor'easters improve to 7-4-3 and 4-2-0 in league action. The Rams slip to 7-5-3 overall (2-3-1 CCC).
Sydney Gillingham recorded three saves in 85 minutes of work to backstop the victory for UNE, which heads for Curry College on Saturday.
