BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Dylan Michaud scored twice in the opening 30 minutes to lead Wentworth Institute of Technology over the University of New England, 2-1, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer battle Tuesday night (Oct. 10) at a chilly Blue Storm Stadium.
The initial tally came less than three minutes into the match, when Sam Wong put a cross from the right corner bouncing into the 6-yard box that made it all the way to Michaud near the back post to tap it in.
UNE answered in the 21st minute, though, on a marker by
Chris Caiazzo.
Gavin Mason met a WIT goal kick in a straight-on sprint, heading the ball right back into empty space for Caiazzo to chase down and slip past the goalie before a shot into an open net

Wentworth (3-9-1, 1-4-0 CCC) regained the advantage at the 29:35 mark on a set piece served up by Nile Keiller on the right wing. It fell near the far post to Jacob Dukeshire, who headed it back into the crowded crease for Michaud to flick with the outside of his right foot across the line.
The Leopards had the closest chance to impact the scoreline in the 2nd half, but UNE netminder
Sean McCarthy got just enough of a try by Michaud to force it off the post and keep the margin at one in the 83rd minute.
Both McCarthy and WIT keeper Giovanni Ruggieri saw plenty of activity during the contest, but with limited attempts at target, wound up with two saves and one stop, respectively. Total shots were 14-6 in favor of the visitors.
The Nor'easters (1-8-5, 0-2-2 CCC) get back to work on Saturday at Roger Williams University.
