BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Nichols College shot 59.7 percent from the floor and picked up a 100-63 men's basketball result versus the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon (Jan. 7) at Coach's Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.
Jakigh Dottin made 9-of-11 on his own to lead the Bison (8-5, 4-2 CCC) with 20 points. Ty Rucker drained 5-of-8 from downtown and totaled 19 points, to go with four steals. Matthew Alectus secured a double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds, powering Nichols' 47-29 edge on the boards. Tavon Jones went for 13 points and Quincy Ferebee contributed 12 points with five assists.
For the Nor'easters (2-11, 0-6 CCC),
Jayden Thornton splashed 8-of-10 three-pointers and racked up 29 points. The quantity and efficiency from long range were both among the top 10 single-game performances in program history, while his point production was the most by a rookie in almost exactly three years.
Winston Bryan supported UNE with eight points, and
Adrian Torres put up seven points, five assists, and four steals.
Dottin and the visitors started quickly, getting out to a 19-4 advantage less than six minutes into the match. The Bison held a 54-26 cushion at the midway break.
