BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Karley Belisle struck for goals in the 25th and 52nd minutes to start the University of New England towards a 4-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over Husson University on Wednesday afternoon (Sep. 28) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

The Nor'easters (5-3-1) have won the last five meetings with the Eagles (5-6-0) with a 20-4 scoring advantage.

Belisle put away UNE's first shot on target with a waist-high volley on a bouncing ball in the box [Watch]. During the initial 45, shots-on-goal were 5-1 in favor of Husson.

The Eagles had a greater number of threatening chances after halftime, however the visiting defense let too many runs get behind the back line and the Nor'easters kept the scoreboard moving. Bella Reil slipped a pass to a cutting Belisle to make it 2-0 [Watch], shortly before Emily Martin finished a wide-open shot in the 58th minute [Watch]. Lizzie Frattaroli setup UNE's fourth tally in the 69th minute with a lengthy through-ball from beyond midfield, sending Kylie Curtin racing in to beat the keeper by glancing one off the crossbar [Watch].

Ariel Martin left the game with the 4-0 cushion and seven saves, giving way to Anna Flaherty for the final 22 minutes. Flaherty turned in another five stops, but Husson did manage to break up the shutout in the 73rd minute. Marila Corletto was denied on a free kick from barely outside the box, and Laura Martel pounced on the rebound behind the wall.

Eagles starting netminder Madison Weigler recorded three saves in 68 minutes of action.

UNE gets back to work on its Commonwealth Coast Conference slate when Curry College comes to town on Saturday (3:30 p.m.).
