BIDDEFORD, Maine –
Jared Christy recorded three goals as the No.1 seed University of New England men's ice hockey team stormed past No.8 Western New England, 4-1, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinals on Saturday at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Christy becomes just the second Nor'easter to score three goals in a conference tournament game. Ryan Bloom achieved the feat in a quarterfinal victory over Wentworth in 2019. It marks the 18th hat trick or better in program history.
UNE (19-3-1) will host No.6 Nichols in the semifinals on Wednesday in Biddeford. The Bison upset No.3 Salve Regina in the quarterfinals, 3-1.

Daniel Winslow put the Nor'easters on the board in the final seconds of the first period as he stuffed home a rebound off a shot by
Alex Sheehy.
Anthony Sciucco also assisted on the early goal. [

Jake Fuss found Christy with a centering pass in front for his first goal of the night with 9:38 to play in the second period.
Austin Morgan also helped on the score to put the Nor'easters in front 2-0 at the second intermission. [

Christy put back the rebound after a hard shot by Sheehy with 6:07 to play in the third to extend the UNE advantage to 3-0 [

Sam Mitchell put Western New England (4-20-2) on the board with 2:52 remaining in the game.
The Nor'easters controlled the puck most of the night and held a 43-17 advantage in shots.
Billy Girard IV stopped 16 shots in the victory. Lancaster made 39 saves in the loss.
UNE has defeated Nichols in all three of its meetings this year, most-recently a 2-1 victory in the season finale on Feb. 19.
