BIDDEFORD, Maine – The top-seeded University of New England men's ice hockey team picked up a 4-1 victory over No.6 Nichols College in the 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship semifinals on Wednesday at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Winners of 10 in-a-row, the Nor'easters advance to Saturday's title game against No.2 Endicott, which earned a 2-1 overtime victory over No.4 Curry in the other semifinal.

Jake Fuss gave the Nor'easters (20-3-1) a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, putting back the rebound after a shot by
Jared Christy [Watch].
Liam Darcy also assisted on the goal. Nathan Carl tied it for the Bison in the final minute of the opening frame after a UNE turnover in its defensive zone.

Billy Girard IV stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced in net to earn the victory. Korbinian Lutz had 40 saves in the loss for Nichols, which finishes the season at 8-16-1 overall.
The Nor'easters and Gulls will meet in the final at the Forum on Saturday at 7 p.m. The teams are 1-1-1 against each other this season, with UNE claiming the most recent game, 5-4. UNE will be making its fourth appearance in the conference championship game, and first since winning the title in 2019. Endicott, the 2020 champion, is playing in its third title game.
